State renames Everett-Marysville road to honor military

The state Department of Transportation will rename Highway 529 between Everett and Marysville the "Yellow Ribbon Highway" in honor off all those serving in the military from this state.

The state Department of Transportation will rename Highway 529 between Everett and Marysville the "Yellow Ribbon Highway" in honor off all those serving in the military from this state.

Thursday's dedication followed approval last July by the Washington State Transportation Commission which approved a community-supported resolution to designate the 7.8-mile stretch the Yellow Ribbon Highway. It honors all active U.S. military personnel residing and serving in Washington state and deployed to foreign assignments.

The DOT will unveil four new Yellow Ribbon Highway signs along the corridor Thursday.

Everett resident Nathan Olson proposed the resolution in honor of his older brother.
