Police arrest two suspects in recent street robberies

Seattle police have arrested two people who are believed to be connected to a recent string of armed robberies.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested in Auburn and a 23-year-old man was arrested in Federal Way, both on Tuesday night.

They were identified by police as Sheena Blackburn and Jarvis Gibbs, both of Auburn.

Dan Donohoe, spokesman for King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg, said that the two suspects will be charged in the coming days. Today, a judge ordered that Gibbs remain held at the King County Jail on $500,000 bail and Blackburn on $75,000 bail.

Police are still looking for two men who are also believed to be connected with the robbery spree in North Seattle, Magnolia the Green Lake area and Capitol Hill. Seattle police spokesman Jeff Kappel said that the men are believed to be armed and dangerous.

Tips about the four alleged suspects poured in this week after police released a convenience-store surveillance photo they said showed the suspects.

Police said guns were used in most of the robberies and some of the robbery victims were assaulted.

"We had lots of tips from the public," said Seattle police spokesman Jeff Kappel. "We also had information from [other] Puget Sound area law enforcement agencies."

The first robbery occurred Sept. 1 at about 2:40 a.m. near Lake City Way Northeast and Northeast 107th Street.

The group is also accused of robbing several people late at night near Green Lake.

Police say that five people were robbed in two separate incidents at Green Lake Park on Sept. 10. On Sept. 8, a woman was robbed at gunpoint in the park in the 7200 block of East Greenlake Drive North.

In all of the robberies, witnesses described the suspects as three or four black males. None of the robbery victims said there was a woman involved in the crimes.

Blackburn drove the men to and from the robberies, Kappel said. Police recovered the blue sedan they say was used in the robberies when she was arrested.
