Both directions of Highway 169 between South 140th Street and the Interstate 405 interchange in Renton have been shut down by a fatal two-car collision.

The accident happened just before 3 p.m. on the highway, also known as the Maple Valley Highway.

KING-TV reported that one person was dead and three others were in critical or serious condition.

State Patrol troopers blocked the offramp from both directions of I-405 to Highway 169 and westbound Highway 900 to conduct an investigation.

Local drivers were being detoured by Renton police, with traffic delays.
