Rossi to testify as scheduled, but no media access
Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi plans to testify Wednesday in a lawsuit alleging illegal fundraising on his behalf.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi plans to testify Wednesday in a lawsuit alleging illegal fundraising on his behalf.
Plaintiff's lawyers wanted the deposition open to news media, but a King County Superior Court judge disagrees. Rossi's campaign supports releasing a transcript soon afterward.
The underlying lawsuit is against the Building Industry Association of Washington, Rossi's largest third-party supporter in his campaign against Democratic Gov. Christine Gregoire.
The plaintiffs are two former state Supreme Court justices who support Gregoire. They claim the BIAW and Rossi illegally coordinated fundraising on Rossi's behalf.
Rossi and the BIAW deny any wrongdoing. Washington's mostly vote-by-mail election is under way, ending on Nov. 4.
