8th District congressional race turns on degrees

The race for a congressional seat in a suburban Seattle district has come down to sparring over the candidates' college degrees.

SEATTLE —

The race for a congressional seat in a suburban Seattle district has come down to sparring over the candidates' college degrees.

Eight District Republican incumbent Dave Reichert's camp is questioning Democratic challenger Darcy Burner's claim that she got a degree from Harvard University in computer science and economics.

Harvard officials say that Burner's degree doesn't "indicate anything for economics."

Burner's camp says Reichert's congressional biography states he got a bachelor's degree from Concordia Lutheran College in Oregon.

The college says Reichert obtained a two-year associate's degree.
