More marijuana grow sites found in Chelan County

Law enforcement officials in central Washington's Chelan County have found nearly 85,000 marijuana plants this month in isolated growing operations.

WENATCHEE, Wash. —

Law enforcement officials in central Washington's Chelan County have found nearly 85,000 marijuana plants this month in isolated growing operations.

County sheriff's Lt. Jerry Moore says pot growers are planting their crops in higher elevations in the forests of the eastern Cascades.

Moore said Thursday that more than 24,000 plants were found this week at four separate sites. No arrests have been made, but he says it appears that all the growing operations are related.

Last year, fewer than 3,000 marijuana plants were found in the county.
