No bids for ferry in eBay auction

The eBay auction for the high-speed passenger ferry M.V. Chinook ended Sunday night without a single bid.

The Washington State Ferry System had been asking a minimum $4.5 million for the vessel.

Built in 1998, the ferry carried passengers between Seattle and Bremerton until the state ended passenger-only service on that run. The Chinook hasn't been in service the past four years.

The state planned to give money from the sale of the vessel to King County, which is launching passenger-ferry service between Seattle and Vashon Island.

Calls to the ferry service to learn what's next for the Chinook were not answered Sunday night.
