A man was shot outside a Capitol Hill nightclub early this morning, after an exchange of words with passers-by resulted in another man pulling out a handgun, the victim told Seattle police.

Police officers working at the department's East Precinct office heard a commotion shortly after 2 a.m. and found a man outside with one gunshot wound. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center, said police spokeswoman Renee Witt. His condition is unknown.

The man told police he was standing outside the club in the 1100 block of East Pike Street when the shooting took place.

Police are looking for the vehicle that four suspects left the area in.
