Redmond City Councilman Jim Robinson has announced he will run for mayor of Redmond.

Robinson, 57, a financial analyst at Boeing Co., has served on the City Council since 1992. His term expires at the end of the year. He is chair of the Parks and Human Services Committee and a member of the National League of Cities' Leadership Training Council.

Redmond Mayor Rosemarie Ives, who has served as mayor since 1991, has said she will not seek re-election in November.

Bellevue

Senior citizens to view stagings

An actors workshop for Bellevue senior citizens will perform a sampling of plays twice next week.

The workshop, a division of Bellevue Youth Theatre, will perform a satire about bureaucracy, a comedy called "Mother's Day," a mystery called "Ladies in Retirement" and scenes from the film "On Golden Pond."

The shows are at 7 p.m. March 2-3 at the youth theater, 16661 Northup Way. Tickets are $5. Call 425-452-7155 for more information.

Bellevue

Domestic-violence forum scheduled

A domestic-violence public forum will be held at 7:30 p.m. March 1 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 2650 148th Ave. S.E., Bellevue. The free program is sponsored and organized by the League of Women Voters of Seattle.

Panel members include Margaret Hobart of the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Terri Kimball of Seattle Human Services' Domestic Violence Prevention Division, Linda Rasmussen of the South King County YWCA and Barbara Hope of the Eastside Domestic Violence Program.
