A body found in a river near Clarksville, Tenn., has been confirmed to be that of Jessiah Jameson, a 21-year-old soldier from Bellingham, his grandmother Diane Perreault said Saturday.

Jameson, a specialist with the Army's 101st Airborne Division in nearby Fort Campbell, Ky., disappeared after leaving Kicker's Night Club in Clarksville on the night of Nov. 16, two days after returning from Iraq.

Jameson had been asked to leave the club after he'd had too much to drink, his wife, Erin Jameson, said last week. An Army friend put him in a cab and asked the driver to take him to a nearby hotel.

The nightclub and hotel are in a strip of businesses in downtown Clarksville close to the river. A barge operator spotted the body a few miles downstream Friday.

Erin Jameson and Jessiah's mother, Tracy Williams, are in Clarksville, where they had helped with the search since Thanksgiving Day.

The body was taken to Fort Campbell for an autopsy Saturday to determine the cause of death, Perreault said.

Jameson had planned to return to Washington on Dec. 4 and spend the holidays with his family before moving with them to Clarksville. The couple have a 22-month-old son, Jessiah Jr.

Information from The Associated Press was included in this report.
