A 16-year-old boy was arrested yesterday for his alleged role in a July 10 drive-by shooting that injured three teens on Interstate 5.

Shortly after 10 p.m. that night, Lindsay Berndahl, 18, of Edmonds was traveling in the right lane near Northeast 130th Street in Seattle when a sedan apparently tried to move into her lane; it was in her blind spot and she accelerated past it. The sedan driver pulled alongside Berndahl's car, and someone riding in the back seat fired four shots, according to the State Patrol.

Berndahl was struck twice in the leg; her back-seat passenger, Erin Kimball, 18, of Mountlake Terrace was struck in both forearms with bullet fragments, he said. A male passenger was grazed by a bullet fragment but was not hurt.

State Patrol Lt. Bill Gardiner said it didn't appear the three teens provoked the shooting.

The suspect was booked into the King County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree assault with a weapon.
