Three Northwest soldiers have died this week in fighting in Iraq.

Sgt. Jacob. H. Demand, 29, of Palouse, Whitman County, died Tuesday in Mosul when his patrol was attacked by enemy forces, the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) reported last night.

Demand had been assigned to the 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment at Fort Lewis.

On Monday, two Oregon Army National Guardsmen were killed after their military vehicle came under attack in Taji, north of Baghdad, Iraq, the DOD reported.

Killed were Staff Sgt. David J. Weisenburg, 26, of Portland, and Spc. Benjamin W. Isenberg, 27, of Sheridan, Ore.

Both were members of the Guard's 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry in Corvallis, Ore.
