The Seattle Times, in partnership with Dana Landon’s blog It’s My Darlin’, is undertaking a search for the area’s most resourceful secondhand shoppers.
Thrift-shopping was big in Seattle way before Macklemore made his hit video about shopping at Goodwill.
Capitol Hill’s Amanda King, for one, loves to mix secondhand clothing with new. In this photo, taken downtown recently by style blogger Dana Landon, King wears a hat and sweater from a thrift shop, new pants from American Apparel and a blazer “shopped” from her mom’s closet.
Now, The Seattle Times, in partnership with Landon’s blog It’s My Darlin’, is undertaking a search for the area’s most resourceful secondhand shoppers. Send us a photo of yourself with your best recent thrift-shop find for a chance to win one of three $50 secondhand spending sprees.
Here’s how it works:
Email a photo of yourself with your thrifty item to firstname.lastname@example.org, copying email@example.com. Include your name, age, city of residence and phone number — plus a little bit about your item, including store name and price you paid. Note: Your photo and personal information will not be published anywhere, shared with anyone or used for any purpose other than for the selection of winners of this contest.
Seattle Times editors and Dana Landon will select three winners to receive $50 to spend at any Seattle-area thrift store. Winners must agree to be photographed in The Seattle Times studio by staff photographers and then allow those photographs to be published in The Seattle Times and on its website.
Deadline for entries is midnight, Feb. 11.
No purchase necessary to enter to win. Entrants must be 18 years or older and live in Washington state. Other than these specific terms, our general contest rules apply.
