RAVE To the wonderful, honest person who mailed me my lost wallet with money (almost $100) and credit cards untouched. There was no return address or note. It arrived just before Thanksgiving — I was in tears with thankfulness.

RANT To the judge who allowed a criminal out of jail for Thanksgiving, while our daughter spent her holiday in an Intensive Care Unit instead of being with her family. You ignored his record, the serious accident he caused while driving with a suspended license and the unforgivable injuries to our daughter in a head-on collision.

RAVE To the generous woman who paid for my groceries when I realized my wallet wasn’t in my bag. Your Thanksgiving generosity was a wonderful example for my children. I found my wallet at home and gave that grocery money to the local food bank.

RANT and RAVE Rant to the woman at the theater who screamed and cussed at me when I shushed the two young children with her who talked during the entire “Life of Pi” movie I’ve been looking forward to since I read the book nine years ago. Rave to the theater management who refunded my ticket and gave me two free passes for a future movie. The woman and kids left before the film ended, they probably knew they’d hear from management and the kids were bored, since they were too young for the movie.

RAVE To the person who turned in my stupidly expensive sunglasses I left on the Light Rail and to Sound Transit for getting them back to me in Los Angeles. You all make a native Seattleite REALLY homesick.

RANT and RAVE Rant to the runners who threw their used high energy plastic packets along Interlaken Drive; it looked like they threw them at (not in) the trash barrels. Rave to my husband who picked up about 50 of them.

RAVE To Mo, the tow truck driver who stopped to help when my car broke down on I-5. I wasn’t able to hire you for a full tow, but you turned a bad situation into a bearable one by pulling me to the safety of the shoulder. Me and countless commuters thank you for your quick actions to keep everyone safe and traffic flowing.
