Rave To the people who saved my precious dog's life by getting her the care she needed when she jumped from my third-story window while I was at work. During a time of pain and tears, I smiled knowing that my 6-pound dog survived due to amazing people. I've lived here for one month and am humbled by this city.

Rant and Rave Rant to the woman at the Ste. Michelle concert who spent the entire time talking with her friends and on the phone. I'm mortified to admit that it was me. There's circumstances that led to that evening, but none of them excuse my behavior! I was rude, self-centered and unaware of how I was affecting those around me. I'm truly sorry for ruining the concert experience for others. A huge rave for the brave man who finally told us we were being obnoxious. There are no excuses, only a sincere apology.

Rave To the courteous couple who invited us onto their lovely yard to enjoy the Blue Angels instead of having to stand at a dead end street.

Rant To the mother shopping with her little girl who wore a sign that said, "I lied and stole money from my friends." There must be better ways to teach children to be respectful of others than by embarrassing them in this way. (Incidentally, the punishment didn't seem to have much effect, as she was singing, dancing and turning the sign to hang down her back so she could use it as a cape!)

Rave To Metro bus drivers for their help and patience with the slow and disabled and to the employees at Metro Access Transportation Service who provide drivers who open doors for a better life for so many disabled people.

Rant To our mailman who throws his cigarette butts onto our driveway. We clean up after you every day. Should you even be smoking while driving around in a little truck full of paper?

Rave To the lieutenant on the USS Bunker Hill guided-missile cruiser who gave the sailor from the World War II Bunker Hill aircraft carrier special attention on a Seafair Fleet Week tour.

The Seattle Times publishes reader rants and raves on a space-available basis. We reserve the right to edit for length or content. Send yours to rantandrave@seattletimes.com
