Rant To folks who set off fireworks where they are banned, especially those who set them off days before and after July Fourth. It's very traumatic for my two dogs and so many others. Please go to some place where you won't negatively impact others. Be careful, fireworks cause injuries and property damage.

Rave To the four selfless blood donors who saved my life this week. As a fellow donor, I know it takes time and sacrifice to donate. Thank you!

Rant To me for giving a woman sitting in an aisle seat in a theater a dirty look and being judgmental because she didn't get up to let a woman using a cane get out of the row. I was ashamed when the seated woman's daughter came up with a wheelchair.

Rave To Seattle Art Museum for yet another breathtaking show, "Ancestral Modern,"of Australian Aboriginal art. I expected the rhythmic traditional images but wow, the gallery painted the color of night sky with the huge intense paintings vibrates right off the walls! It's a rave for the eyes.

Rant To the jerk who broke my car window and stole my backpack that contained artwork for my graphic novel. I just want the art back, no questions asked.

Rave For the great people at the recent Seattle Animal Shelter Furry 5K who helped find and recover my lost iPod. I knew "pet people" were good people!

Rant and Rave Rant to whoever at the Seattle Rock 'n' Roll Marathon left pallets of boxed bagels on Mercer Street. Rave to the folks in the King County detox van who loaded boxes of bagels and took them to Union Gospel Mission to be happily consumed by those in need.

Rave To the many people who stopped to help when a disabled man fell at a shopping-plaza parking lot. Just about every age, race and economic level was represented — proof that Seattle is home to many caring people.
