Willingham on Football Playoff selection committee?
Tyrone Willingham: The former Washington coach, along with ex-Nebraska coach Tom Osborne, are expected to be on the College Football Playoff selection committee next year, a person with knowledge of the process told AP.
Willingham went from Stanford to Notre Dame to Washington as head coach from 1995 from 2005, getting fired during the worst season — 0-12 — in Huskies history.
Osborne is one of the most successful coaches in college football history. He won 255 games and three national championships in 25 seasons leading Nebraska.
Other names linked to inclusion on the selection committee: former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, ex-NFL quarterback Archie Manning, former sportswriter Steve Wieberg, former Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese, ex- NCAA executive vice president Tom Jernstedt, and athletic directors Pat Haden (USC), Barry Alvarez (Wisconsin), Jeff Long (Arkansas), Oliver Luck (West Virginia) and Dan Radakovich (Clemson).
