Get ready for another Friday Apple Cup.

The Pac-12 released its 2013 football schedule Thursday, and the Huskies will play two games on a Friday — Nov. 15 at UCLA and the Apple Cup against Washington State on Nov. 29.

This year, the Apple Cup is in Seattle and will be at UW's renovated Husky Stadium, as will all seven Washington home games. Non-Saturday games are more common, thanks to the Pac-12's new television deal which took effect this season. Washington had three non-Saturday games in 2012 but has just two in 2013.

Washington's Pac-12 home schedule features five games, highlighted by a contest against Oregon on Oct. 12.

That's part of a challenging portion of the schedule that begins with a game Oct. 5 at Stanford, followed by the Oregon game and a trip to Arizona State for the Huskies' first game against the Sun Devils since 2010.

It will be the third time in four years that UW will play Stanford and Oregon in back-to-back weeks. Those teams have each gone to BCS bowls the past three seasons.

In a release from the school, UW coach Steve Sarkisian said that was simply life in the Pac-12.

"If we play them back-to-back, then we play them back-to-back," he said. "So be it."

While dates have been set, kickoff times and TV designations will be determined later. Some will come in the spring and others will not be finalized until the season.

The Huskies' nonconference games had already been set. The home opener against Boise State on Aug. 31 will be followed by a bye week and a trip to Chicago's Soldier Field to play Illinois on Sept. 14. The Huskies play FCS opponent Idaho State at home on Sept. 21.

Washington will not play USC or Utah in 2013 and 2014 as part of the conference's scheduling rotation, which was set when the conference expanded to 12 teams in 2011. UCLA and Arizona State each return to the schedule.

The Pac-12 title game will be Dec. 7 at the home of the team with the best regular-season record. That's a Saturday. The game had been on Friday the past two years.

Huskies solidify staff

The Huskies announced they had completed their assistant-coaching lineup by making a few moves with coaches already at Washington.

To fill the lone remaining full-time opening on the nine-man staff, Jordan Paopao, who has spent the past two seasons coaching UW tight ends as a graduate assistant, was promoted to a full-time position as tight-ends coach.

To fill the vacant running back spot, created when Joel Thomas left for Arkansas, Johnny Nansen was moved there while retaining his role as special-teams coordinator. Peter Sirmon, who is also the linebackers coach, will take over Nansen's former role as recruiting coordinator.

Washington earlier hired Marques Tuiasosopo as quarterbacks coach, replacing Eric Kiesau, who will coach receivers and fill an opening created when Jimmie Dougherty left for San Jose State.

Big recruiting weekend

The recruiting season kicks back into high gear this weekend with teams around the country hosting recruits for visits. It's the first of four weekends of official visits before the Feb. 6 letter-of-intent signing day. Washington reportedly is hosting at least nine players this weekend.

Included in that group is Reuben Foster of Auburn, Ala., rated by Scout.com as the No. 1 middle-linebacker prospect in the country. Foster committed to Auburn last summer but decommited after the firing of coach Gene Chizik. Foster took an unofficial visit to UW over the summer while attending a Nike camp in Oregon and told Scout.com he has been intrigued by the Huskies since. He is also considering Georgia and Auburn, among others, and has said he will not announce a decision until signing day.
