Washington sophomore forward Shawn Kemp Jr. is ready to return from a knee injury, earlier than expected, and wants to make his season debut Saturday. The short-handed Huskies have stumbled to a 4-3 start and sorely need him.

Coach Lorenzo Romar said he isn't sure if the 6-foot-9 Kemp or senior guard Scott Suggs, who has missed the past three games because of plantar fasciitis, will be available when Washington plays Nevada.

Both players are expected to practice this week, and those workouts will determine their status.

Kemp hasn't played since UW's exhibition game Oct. 24.

Suggs, who is averaging 10.3 points in four starts, is dealing with inflammation in his right foot.

Romar cautioned that even if Washington's co-captain returns Saturday, his injury could linger.

"That's why it's so hard for me to predict," Romar said. "You just don't know."
