Lindsay Meggs was named Coach of the Year and shortstop Erik Forgione was named Defensive Player of the Year, while four Huskies took home Pac-12 All-Conference baseball honors Wednesday.

The Huskies’ fifth-year coach took home the school’s ninth Coach of the Year honor; the first since 1998. Meggs led Washington to a 39-15-1 overall record and a second-place finish in the Pac-12.

Forgione spearheaded a Husky defense that led the Pac-12 with a .981 fielding percentage and had the league’s fewest errors (42) despite having the second most chances (2,192).

Joining Forgione on the All-Defensive team were Austin Rei, Andrew Ely and Braden Bishop. Rei and Ely were also named All-Conference, along with Brian Wolfe and pitcher Tyler Davis. Washington State’s Ian Hamilton and Nick Tanielu also were all-conference.

Notes

• The Washington Huskies had three players selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American teams.

Senior outfielder Victoria Hayward was picked to the first team while senior first baseman Hooch Fagaly and junior infielder/outfielder Kylee Lahners were selected to the third team.

• Guard Khalia Lark of Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, Calif, will join the UW women’s basketball team in the fall after signing with the Huskies.

Lark helped Mater Dei to a mythical national title in 2012 and two California state championships.

• Washington junior Emmett Egger was named to the All-Pac-12 tennis second team.
