CORVALLIS, Ore. – The second game of the three-game series between fifth-ranked Washington and second-ranked Oregon State was billed as a pitching duel and it turned out that way.

Oregon State’s Logan Ice broke a scoreless deadlock in the ninth with a double off the right-field wall that scored Dylan Davis from second to give the Beavers a 1-0 win. Ice, from Puyallup’s Rogers High School, swung at the first pitch he saw from Huskies’ reliever Troy Rallings to lift his team to a one-game advantage in a tight Pac-12 race.

The Beavers (40-9, 21-5) assured themselves of ending the series against Washington (38-12, 20-6) on Sunday with no worse than a tie in the Pac-12 standings.

UW’s Tyler Davis (10-2) allowed the lone earned run on six hits. Both of his losses have been to Oregon State.

“I thought Tyler pitched a great game,” said Huskies’ coach Lindsay Meggs.

The Huskies and Beavers wrap up the three-game series Sunday at 3:05 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network. Jeff Brigham (6-2, 3.04) will be on the mound for the Huskies, while OSU will counter with Ben Wetzler (9-1, 0.94).
