KENT — Four second-period goals pushed the Portland Winterhawks to a big lead and they went on to crush Seattle 8-2 in Western Hockey League action Saturday night.

Oliver Bjorkstrand and Brendan Leipsic each had two goals for the Winterhawks (20-4-1-0), leaders of the U.S. Division. Chase De Leo and Nicolas Petan each had a goal and an assist for the winners.

Connor Honey and Luke Lockhart scored for the Thunderbirds (11-12-1-0).

At Everett 4, Kootenay 3

Tyler Sandhu had two first-period goals for the Silvertips (10-15-0-2), who controlled the contest against the Ice (7-15-1-0).

Ty Mappin and Reid Petryk also scored goals for Everett.
