Player of the game
Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez was healthy for this game, and while the Huskies didn't let him run as wild as he did last year in Seattle, he expertly ran the Cornhuskers' offense. He hit a few big passing plays to throw for 155 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 83 yards on 17 carries.
Play of the game
The Cornhuskers showed early they were up for this one when Martinez hit Kenny Bell on a play-action pass for 50 yards on the first play of the game, setting up Nebraska's first touchdown.
Nebraska outscored UW 17-0 in the first 7:40 of the third quarter, taking advantage of a controversial call against the Huskies for interference on a punt, and a fumbled kickoff by Bishop Sankey that gave Nebraska the ball at the Husky 1-yard-line. Nebraska scored two touchdowns in nine seconds to increase the lead from 20-17 to 34-17.
Nebraska, which had been held to 91 yards rushing on 41 carries in the Holiday Bowl, had 309 on Saturday on 55 carries.
QB Keith Price (knee), LB Princeton Fuimaono (shin), RB Jesse Callier (hamstring). None considered serious.
"I think there was a handful of plays that could have swung this game in either direction, some of which were self-inflicted and some of which maybe I don't agree with the call." — UW coach Steve Sarkisian.
By the numbers
