Huskies searching for new corporate sponsorship for Edmundson Pavilion
Washington's 10-year deal with Bank of America has ended, leaving the Huskies looking for a new corporate sponsor partner.

Clarence "Hec" Edmundson isn't sharing the billing at the University of Washington any more.
The 10-year naming rights deal with Bank of America for the basketball arena expired this year and athletic director Scott Woodward said UW is seeking a new corporate sponsor.
"We're still talking to numerous people and we haven't had anything that's final yet, but I feel like we'll get something done," he said. "We think there's plenty of interest and we're trying to make sure it's the right partner and the right fit.
"Nothing imminent but we're in very good, healthy discussions."
Naming rights have been a touchy topic at Washington since the school accepted $5.1 million in 1998 from Seafirst Bank to help fund a $43 million renovation of Edmundson Pavilion.
Bank of America, however, took over Seafirst Bank and when the building reopened in 2000 it was named "Bank of America Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion."
The deal contributed about $500,000 annually to UW's $65 million athletic budget.
Woodward said the economic downturn contributed to the demise of the business relationship between Bank of America and UW.
Woodward acknowledged it would have been ideal to have had a corporate partner in place to replace Bank of America, but said "we were in no hurry to make any rash decisions.
"Our department is run well fiscally and we're prepared for contingencies," Woodward said. "The most important thing is to do it right and to pick a great corporate partner."
Until then, the 82-year-old arena will be known as Edmundson Pavilion or Hec Ed.

• Senior point guard Venoy Overton reinjured his left hamstring over the weekend during the men's basketball team's training camp and will miss the next several weeks of practice. He hopes to return Nov. 6 for Washington's exhibition game against Saint Martin's.
• Coach Lorenzo Romar said freshman forward Desmond Simmons, who underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, has been cleared to practice.
