Terrence Ross visits UW; rumors suggest he'll sign with Huskies

Portland prep basketball stars Terrence Ross, Terrence Jones expected to sign letter this week. Both are considering Washington, and there are rumors Ross has already decided on the Huskies.

Terrence Ross, Oregon's boys basketball Player of the Year in 2008, concluded a two-day visit at Washington on Monday amid Internet reports claiming he has picked the Huskies from a list of college choices that includes Oregon, Kentucky, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Ross, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, told a contributor for ZagsBlog.com via Facebook: "I am going to Washington because of the great relationship I have with the team and coaches. I thought it would be the best choice for me and I would fit in with the team. ... I felt like it was time to put an end to the recruiting process."

Washington hasn't made a formal announcement.

The Huskies have two scholarships to offer and have reportedly made offers to Ross and Terrence Jones, who played with Ross at Portland's Jefferson High.

The signing period ends May 19.

While Ross toured the UW campus, Jones made a formal visit to Kansas.

Jones, a 6-10 forward and McDonald's All-American, said he'll announce his college decision Friday during a news conference at his high school.

Ross was expected to join him, but his decision might have already been disclosed.

On his Twitter account, Garfield High junior Tony Wroten Jr. said Ross chose UW, and various recruiting Internet sites have reported Ross has committed to the Huskies.

Before their visit, Ross' mother, Marcine Ross, told The Oregonian: "He really has a nice bond with coach (UW coach) Lorenzo Romar. We'll have to see how it goes, but so far, Terrence feels strong about the University of Washington."
