SEATTLE — Washington senior outside hitter Sanja Tomasevic has been named CVU.com (Collegiate Volleyball Update) National Player of the Year. It was the second national player honor for Tomasevic, who was also tabbed by Asics.

Tomasevic, the 2005 Pac-10 Player of the Year, led Washington to its first national championship in December. She averaged 2.73 digs per game and 1.11 blocks per game and finished her career as the school's all-time leader in kills and aces.

The award was the second CVU.com honor for the Huskies — junior Courtney Thompson was named the National Setter of the Year.

Women's basketball

Gonzaga senior forward Ashley Anderson was named the West Coast Conference co-Player of the Week following her 24-point, 11-rebound performance in the Bulldogs' 67-60 win over Portland.

Anderson added a block and three steals to her fifth double-double of the season as the Bulldogs improved to 5-2 in the WCC, tied for second with Santa Clara.

Men's basketball

Montana sophomore forward Andrew Strait was named Big Sky Conference co-Player of the Week. The Yakima native averaged 17 points and 8.5 rebounds in Montana's wins over Portland State and Eastern Washington.

Track and field

Seattle Pacific's Chris Randolph and Amy Harris were named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference athletes of the week following their performances at the UW Indoor Invitational and Indoor Open meets.

Randolph broke the school and facility records in winning the men's heptathlon with 5,508 points. He broke his SPU records in the long jump (22 feet, 11 inches), 60 hurdles (8.39 seconds) and pole vault (14-11) in the process. His heptathlon mark is the sixth-highest by an American this season and qualifies him for the U.S. Championships.

Harris finished second in the pole vault with an NCAA Division II provisional national qualifying mark of 11-5 �.

• Seattle's Sean Beighton rink (Sean Beighton, Derrick McLean, Ian McLean and Joe Purvis) began the Men's Junior National Curling Championships with two consecutive victories in Duluth, Minn. The Beighton rink, representing Seattle's Granite Curling Club, defeated Team Illinois 6-5 on Sunday, then came back on Monday afternoon to post an easy 13-2 win over Team Tennessee. The round-robin portion of the nationals continues through Thursday, with the semifinals on Friday and finals on Saturday.
