Frank Corrado, the voice of "BirdNote"

If you've listened to "BirdNote," you've heard Frank Corrado break into an Irish brogue, imitate bird songs and solemnly talk about Tweety Bird's cartoon call.

If you've listened to "BirdNote," you've heard Frank Corrado break into an Irish brogue, imitate bird songs and solemnly talk about Tweety Bird's cartoon call.

The voice of "BirdNote" is a trained stage actor who has lived in Seattle for 25 years, writing and working in theater. He continues to act and write, but after just two years of "BirdNote," "I seem to be known as the bird guy more than the stage actor," he said.

Corrado, 59, finds birds fascinating in their resourcefulness and adaptability, and has gone on some birding trips with the show's experts, but he still considers himself a novice. He said he is slightly embarrassed when he has to imitate bird calls on the show but finds "BirdNote" "extremely gratifying."

"What I particularly admire about [birds] ... is that they do two things in particular that most humans either want or ought to do, and that is — both literally and metaphorically — sing and fly."
