Decades later, the sport is enduring what hydroplane chairman Sam Cole admits is "basically a survival year,'' but he says there is hope for a rebound. Seattle is one of the race sites that is doing OK.

Cop who wrote 80% of pot-use tickets faces investigation

Seattle police are investigating the conduct of an officer who has written most of the tickets for consuming marijuana in public this year, including some that referred to the City Attorney, an advocate of pot legalization, as “Petey Holmes.”
