Kelowna hands Everett Silvertips 6-3 loss
EVERETT — Kelowna got two goals apiece from Madison Bowey and Nick Merkley and cruised past the Everett Silvertips 6-3 in a Western Hockey League game Wednesday night at Comcast Arena.
Everett got goals from Matt Pufahl, Jujhar Khaira and Ivan Nikolishin, all on power plays. The Silvertips converted 3 of 5 power-play opportunities.
Daniel Cotton made five saves on eight shots before being pulled for Austin Lotz, who made 15 saves.
Jackson Whistle made 29 saves for the Rockets, who scored the first four goals of the game.
Tony Robydek of Pro Golf in Tacoma holds a one-shot lead over Tim Feenstra of Seattle’s Broadmoor Golf Club and Scott Krieger of Broadmoor GC in Portland in the Pacific Northwest PGA Professional Championship at Meadow Springs in Richland.
Robydek leads at 2-under 142. Both Robydek and Feenstra shot 4-under 68s for their second round.
Corey Prugh of Manito G&CC is two back of Robydek while last year’s champion, Ryan Benzel of Pro Golf of Lynnwood, is three strokes back.
The Pacific Northwest PGA Professional Championship in addition to crowning the Section Champion also serves to qualify eight professionals for the National PGA Club Professional Championship in June in Myrtle Beach, SC. Prugh is already exempt for next June’s event.
Seattle University (5-13, 2-1 WAC) earned a 3-1 victory at Grand Canyon (7-7, 1-2), winning by scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19. Freshman Iris Ivanis led the Redhawks with 17 kills and 11 digs.
