VANCOUVER, B.C. — Raffi Torres scored at 5:31 of overtime to give the San Jose Sharks a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks in Game 2 of their best-of-seven Western Conference first-round series Friday night.

The Sharks took a 2-0 series lead and extended Vancouver's losing streak in home playoff games to six.

Games 3 and 4 are in San Jose on Sunday and Tuesday. The Sharks were 17-2-5 at home in the regular season.

Joe Thornton and ex-WHL Seattle Thunderbird Patrick Marleau, whose goal in the final minute of the third period forced overtime, also scored for San Jose.

"I think it shows a lot about our team," said Torres. "We give up the lead, they were playing great. They were coming at us with everything. We showed a lot of determination, a lot of perseverance."

Ryan Kesler scored two third-period goals for Vancouver, helping the Canucks overcome a 1-0 deficit that stood since the first period.

"I thought we played exceptional tonight," said Kesler. "We just didn't get it done."

Note

• Pittsburgh superstar Sidney Crosby, playing in his first game since suffering a broken jaw March 30, scored twice in the first 7:22 for the top-seeded Penguins but the visiting New York Islanders fought back to win 4-3 and even the East first-round series at 1-1.
