VANCOUVER, B.C. — Vancouver Canucks forward David Booth had surgery Friday and will miss the rest of the regular season.

Booth, 28, suffered a leg injury last Saturday against Detroit and missed the past three games.

Canucks general manager Mike Gillis told a Vancouver radio station "there's a chance" Booth could return for the playoffs. Booth suffered a groin injury on the first day of training camp and missed the first 14 games of the regular season.

Meanwhile, Vancouver defenseman Alexander Edler has been suspended for two games without pay for charging Phoenix goaltender Mike Smith during the Canucks' 2-1 road victory Thursday.

Edler, 26, will forfeit $35,135.14. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
