Golfers looking for a low-cost course have lost another option. The city of Mountlake Terrace, which owns the nine-hole Ballinger Lake Golf Course in Snohomish County, decided this week to convert the land into a park.
The city had outsourced management of the course to Hardy Golf, a family operation, but the managers walked away from their contract in November, saying they were unable to make the course financially viable.
The course was one of the region's most affordable, offering nine-hole rounds for $12.
The new park is to feature open space, trails and benches.
