KENNEWICK — Connor Sanvido put Seattle ahead to stay with the first of his two goals as the Thunderbirds beat the Tri-City Americans 8-4 in a Western Hockey League game Thursday night.
The Thunderbirds (15-13-1-0) scored the final six goals on the way to their third consecutive victory.
Seattle led 1-0 at 8:55 of the first period on Seth Swenson's goal. But Tri-City (17-11-1-1) quickly tied it and led 4-2 after Beau McCue's goal at 12:34 of the second period.
Late in the second period, Seth Swenson scored the first of three Seattle goals in a span of 2:04 as the T-Birds rallied.
In the third, Sanvido put the Thunderbirds in front 5-4. Alexander Delnov and Riley Sheen added goals before Sanvido scored a short-handed, empty-net score at 18:41 for the T-Birds' eighth goal. Brendan Rouse had his third assist of the game on Sanvido's final goal.
Tri-City outshot Seattle 37-34. Seattle goalie Brandon Glover stopped 33 of 37 shots and his record improved to 14-10-1-0.

CHENEY — Mansa Habeeb banked in a 10-foot jumper with 20.2 seconds left in overtime and Idaho overcame a 17-point second-half deficit to beat Eastern Washington in men's basketball, 81-79.
Stephen Madison scored 29 points and Kyle Barone 20 for Idaho (3-4), and Barone had 11 rebounds and Madison 10.
Justin Crosgile had 26 points and hoisted 16 three-point attempts (hitting half of them) for Eastern (2-6). Venky Jois added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles.

COSTA MESA, Calif. — "Vicious" Vincent Thompson of Federal Way won his 12th consecutive pro fight without a loss, defeating Johan Banks in a six-round unanimous decision.
"Banks (5-8-3, 3 KOs) could not match my hand speed or my foot speed," Thompson said after the fight. "He caught me with a few looping right hands, but it didn't hurt me."
Thompson, at 236 pounds, won every round easily, 60-54 on the score cards, and improved to 12-0 with two knockouts.
Everett Silvertips defenseman Mirco Mueller was named to Team Switzerland for the 2013 World Junior Championships, which begin this month in Ufa, Russia. Mueller left the Silvertips Monday to join his Swiss teammates for pretournament training camps. Mueller, 17, could miss as many as eight games for the Silvertips before the World Juniors conclude Jan. 5.
