Thunderbirds win in shootout

Burke Gallimore and Luke Lockhart scored in the shootout as the Seattle Thunderbirds beat the Victoria Royals 4-3 in a Western Hockey League game.

VICTORIA, B.C. — Burke Gallimore and Luke Lockhart scored in the shootout as the Seattle Thunderbirds beat the Victoria Royals 4-3 in a Western Hockey League game.

Gallimore scored the go-ahead goal in the third period for a 3-2 lead for Seattle. But Kevin Sundher got the equalizer for Victoria with just 1:25 left to play.

Brad Deagle and Connor Sanvido also scored for Seattle, and Calvin Pickard made 34 saves.

Silvertips prevail

RED DEER, Alberta — Kent Simpson stopped 52 shots, one short of the franchise record, as the Everett Silvertips beat the Red Deer Rebels 3-2 in a shootout.

Kohl Bauml and Josh Winquist scored goals for Everett. Ryan Harrison, Jari Erricson and Cody Fowlie scored in the shootout.
