Seattle Times prep athletes of the week
Bainbridge soccer player Will Economy, Holy Names sprinter Imani Apostol and the Skyline boys soccer team are honored as preps of the week.
Will Economy, Bainbridge boys soccer
The Spartans playmaker piled up five goals and three assists in three wins last week. Economy, a midfielder, tallied all of his team’s goals in a 3-0 win over nonleague foe Stadium on Tuesday, added a goal and an assist in a 4-1 triumph over Bishop Blanchet on Thursday and then put up a goal and assist in a 5-0 win over Central Kitsap on Saturday. Economy has nine goals and five assists as the Spartans improved their records to 2-1-0 in 3A Metro League and 5-1-0 overall.
Imani Apostol, Holy Names track
Apostol, a junior, ran the top times this spring for Washington in the 200 and 400 meters at the Arcadia Invitational in Los Angeles last weekend. She finished second in the 200 and third in the 400 in her section.
Skyline boys soccer team
Skyline won two 1-0 matches last week against state-qualifying teams from 2013, beating Roosevelt on Monday and Inglemoor on Wednesday April 9 in KingCo 4A action. The wins put the Spartans at 4-0-1 and in second in the conference race and 7-0-3 overall. Alex Appel recorded both shutouts in goal.
