YAKIMA — Despite scoring just 14 points in the second half, Lake Washington survived a Clarkston comeback, beating the Bantams 52-48 on Thursday in the Class 2A boys state quarterfinals at the SunDome.
Drew Heimdahl led three Kangaroos in double figures with 17 points, while Jeffery Staudacher had 14 and Kelly Guy 12.
Lake Washington will face Lynden at 9 p.m. in a state semifinal game.
Anacortes 77, White River 51
Behind Ty Johnson’s game-high 23 points, Anacortes beat White River in Yakima.
Brandon Dove led the Hornets with 13 points.
White River will face Mark Morris in a loser-out game at 12:15 p.m. on Friday.
Class 2a Girls
Ellensburg 57, Lake Washington 39
Alexa Orcutt scored 10 of her team-high 14 points in the second half to lead Ellensburg over Lake Washington in Yakima.
Karly Malcolm added 10 points for the Bulldogs, who led by as much as 21 late in the game.
Sydney Shepard led Lake Washington with 15 points.
Lake Washington will face White River in a loser-out game at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
Mark Morris 80, White River 60
Ashley Coons poured in a game-high 30 points to lead Mark Morris to a win over White River in Yakima.
Coons made 11 of 18 shots, including 5 of 9 three-pointers. Kourtney Easton added 25 points on 8-of-19 shooting, with three three-pointers.
Class 1a Boys
Seattle Academy 46, Toledo 26
Daniel Davydov poured in a game-high 18 points as Seattle Academy raced to a quarterfinal victory over Toledo in Yakima.
The Cardinals outscored Toledo, 33-4, in the middle quarters — including an 18-1 margin in the third period — to put the game away.
Seattle Academy will face Zillah in a state semifinal game at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
Okanogan 70, Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) 60 (OT)
Justin Rivas scored four of his game-high 24 points in overtime to lift top-ranked Okanogan to a quarterfinal victory in Yakima.
Trey Drechsel led the Eagles with 20 points, and Isaiah Penchion grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.
Cedar Park Christian will face Brewster in a loser-out game at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
Class 2B Boys
Bear Creek 57, Northwest Christian 53
With 2.5 seconds left, Jesse Leuenberger hit two free throws for his only points of the game, giving the Bear Creek Grizzlies a four-point lead as they beat the Crusaders in Spokane.
Bear Creek will face Morton-White Pass at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
CLASS 1B Boys
Colton 80, Cedar Park Christian (MLT) 61
Dalton Patchen scored 35 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Colton surged ahead for good in the fourth quarter and beat Cedar Park Christian in Spokane.
Cedar Park Christian was led by Eric Matson’s 20 points and seven assists and Ben Reidy’s 19 points and eight rebounds.
Cedar Park Christian will face Three Rivers Christian in a loser-out game at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
Shorewood Christian 54, Three Rivers Christian 48
The Lions took a double digit lead into halftime and held on for a win over the Eagles in Spokane.
Jordan King led all scorers with 17 points to go along with seven rebounds, and teammate Micah Lorenz added 12 points and six rebounds in the win.
Eric Powell shot 4 for 16 and led the Eagles with 12 points in the loss.
The Lions will go on to play Colton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
