TACOMA — The sting of yesterday's defeat didn't get in the way of today for the Inglemoor girls team.

Six-foot-4 Deja Strother had 18 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and three assists as the fifth-ranked Vikings bounced back from Thursday's tough quarterfinal loss to Mount Rainier for a 44-34 win over KingCo 4A rival Skyline on Friday.

The Vikings (22-3) scored their third win of the season over the Spartans (20-7), assuring Inglemoor of its first state trophy. Inglemoor meets Gonzaga Prep for fourth place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

"For me, I felt like we had to come out 10 times harder than we did last night," said Strother, who hit 7 of 11 shots. "That (Mount Rainier) loss made us want this one more."

Inglemoor coach John Augustavo felt a weight lifted off his shoulders by securing the team's first trophy.

"I'm excited," he said. "We just told them today, it's going to be who wants it more. It was a tough pill to swallow (Thursday night). This was a trap game. We put a lot on the floor last night. We responded."

Sophomore Otiona Gildon's career-high 30 points and eight rebounds helped the fourth-ranked Bullpups (23-4) stay alive. Sarah Toeaina had 20 points and Kate Kramer 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Conquerors (19-8).
