TREVAUNTE' WILLIAMS
Garfield boys basketball
Williams, a 6-foot-5 senior wing, came alive for a career-high 35 points — more than twice his average — to keep the top-ranked Bulldogs' season going in a 74-65 overtime victory over South Kitsap. He scored nine of Garfield's 11 points in overtime and also contributed 11 rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
JENNY JOHNSON
Kentwood girls basketball
Johnson, a 5-11 junior forward, put together 18 points and 19 rebounds to key the Conquerors' 61-60, double-overtime upset of third-ranked Lynnwood at regionals. She also had 17 points and 17 boards in the final seeding game of the West Central 4A District tournament, a 58-51 win over Kentridge.
Newport boys basketball
Coach Steve Haizlip's Knights beat Mount Vernon, 66-55, and then seventh-ranked Eastmont, 48-41, to advance to the state quarterfinals for the first time since 1990 (they were in the round of 16 in 2002). They won five loser-out playoff games overall to advance.
