AUBURN — Decatur gave defending state champ Enumclaw a mighty scare before being edged by one-half point — 363 to 362.5 — for the SPSL 3A boys wrestling team title on Saturday.

Enumclaw, coming off a victory over 4A Tahoma in the annual "Battle of the Bone," needed every point to overcome the Gators in the meet at Auburn Mountainview High School.

A pivotal match was Garrett Grau's 5-1 decision for the Hornets over the Gators' Justin Robinson in the final at 220 pounds.

Enumclaw's Lucas Somera, the state champion at 138 last year, lost by injury default to Matt Yuste of Bonney Lake in the 145-pound title match. Somera suffered a dislocated kneecap three weeks ago.

SPSL 4A

At Kent-Meridian, defending 4A state champion Tahoma rolled up 411 points to 291.5 for runner-up Kentwood. Tahoma sent 10 wrestlers to finals and won six of those matches.

Tim Whitehead, a state runner-up for the Bears at 113 last year, decisioned Kentwood's Walker Meyers 3-0 at 120 in one of the night's most competitive finals.

KingCo 4A

At Skyline, the host Spartans won championships at seven weights and outpointed Issaquah 229 to 209 for the team crown. Nate Swanson (106), Michael Mecham (160) and Sean McAlhaney (220) won by pins in the finals. Woodinville's Ryan Christensen, a state runner-up last year, needed only 54 seconds to pin his opponent in the final at 182 pounds.

KingCo/Seamount 3A

At Liberty, Mercer Island had six champions and rolled up the top team score in the subregional meet for 3A teams. The Islanders, who went unbeaten on the way to their fourth straight KingCo 3A dual-meet league championship, piled up 264.5 points. Mount Si was next with 163.5. Taylan Yuasa got a major decision at 106 and Jake Pruchno (126) and Nick Chandler (170) pinned their opponents in the finals for the Islanders.

WesCo 3A

At Glacier Peak, the host team dominated the South Division championships, getting 10 wrestlers to championship matches and piling up 328.5 points to runner-up Meadowdale's 209.5. Defending state champion Sean Elledge (182) and Mosese Fifita (285) pinned their opponents in the finals for Glacier Peak, and teammate Jacob Elledge (152) got a major decision.

At Stanwood, Ferndale outpointed the five WesCo North schools with 322.5 points. Stanwood was a close second with 299.5. Stanwood got pins from West Weinert (106) and Zach Schut (152) in their title matches. Everett's Jesse Lopez, the defending state champ at 132 last year, decisioned Killian Page of Marysville-Pilchuck 11-7 in the 145-pound final.
