Max Browne of Skyline High School in Sammamish has been named USA Today's Football Offensive Player of the Year and first-team All-America quarterback.
It's the second major award this week for Browne. On Tuesday, he received the Gatorade National Player of the Year trophy from Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson in a ceremony at the school.
The 6-foot-5 senior, a starter since his sophomore season at Skyline, broke the state record for career passing yards (12,951) this year. He threw for 4,526 yards and 49 touchdowns in his senior season while leading the Spartans to a 14-0 record and their second consecutive Class 4A state championship.
Browne committed to USC last April. He finished classes at Skyline Tuesday and will enroll next month at USC.
The Defensive Player of the Year is safety Su'a Cravens of Vista Murrieta, Calif. Cravens is also committed to the Trojans.
Kicker/punter Austin Rehkow of Spokane's Central Valley High School was a second-team USA Today selection. Rehkow, who is uncommitted, kicked a state-record 67-yard field goal and also connected from 56 and 52 yards this season.
