More than 100 teams and 1,800 players are expected to compete in a high school girls basketball tournament that begins Tuesday at Juanita and Lake Washington high schools in Kirkland.
The 15th annual MSNM (Midsummer Nights Madness) National Championships has grown from 35 teams since it was started in 1997 at Juanita High School by girls coach Sam Lee.
This year, the tournament will include teams from Washington, California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Canada and an international team based in Germany.
The July 10-13 tournament is an NCAA-certified event, with hundreds of college coaches expected to scout players.
There will be 70 games daily at the two schools. Admission will be charged. Games begin at 9 a.m. each day.
