The BYU-bound senior ran a personal best of 4:03.18 in the eighth annual boys' race in New York. Glacier Peak's Amy-Eloise Neale was seventh in the girls' event.

NEW YORK — Marcus Dickson of White River High School in Buckley ran a personal best and finished fourth Saturday in the 14-runner field at the Jim Ryun Dream Mile.

Dickson, a graduating senior who will run for Brigham Young University next school year, finished in 4 minutes, 3.18 seconds.

The winner was Bernie Montoya of Yuma, Ariz., who finished in 4:01.32.

Another Washington runner, senior Izaic Yorks of Lakes High School in Lakewood, was eighth in 4:04.38.

The eighth annual invitation-only event for high school boys and girls was at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island.

In the girls' Dream Mile, junior Amy-Eloise Neale of Glacier Peak (Snohomish) High School was seventh of 14 finishers in 4:43.82. Maddie Meyers, a University of Washington-bound senior from Seattle's Northwest School, was 13th in 4:55.69.

The top performance by a girls runner from the state was by 15-year-old Camas freshman Alexa Efraimson, who placed fourth in 4:42.41.

The girls winner was Camille Chapus of Los Angeles in 4:39.64.
