Class 4A
Mitch Stewart, Federal Way tennis: Stewart, a sophomore, completed a 25-0 season with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the Class 4A boys state singles final at Columbia Basin Racquet Club. His team tied for third.
Kennadi Bouyer, Curtis track and field: Bouyer, a junior, won the 100 meters (12.10 seconds) and 200 (24.95), ran on the winning 400 relay (48.31) and 800 relay (1:42.29), and placed fourth in the long jump (18 feet, 4 ¾ inches) at the state meet, helping Curtis win the girls' team title.
Class 3A
Marcus Chambers, Foss track and field: Chambers, a junior, swept the boys 400 (47.36) and 200 (21.41) at the state meet.
Adara Winder, Bonney Lake track and field: Winder, a senior, won the state championship in the shot for the third time in her career. She threw a personal best 45-9 ½ on her last throw. She also placed second in the discus.
Class 2A
Nathan Dunford, Mount Baker track and field: Dunford, a junior, won the boys' state title in the pole vault, clearing 15 feet.
Cherish Morrison, Blaine track and field: Morrison, a senior, won the girls 100 (12.36), 200 (24.92), 400 (56.09) and anchored the winning 1,600 relay, which set a state-meet record.
Class 1A
Dean Poplawski, Overlake soccer: The senior center midfielder helped lead the Owls to the boys state championship. In penalty kick shootouts in the semifinals and finals, he moved to goalkeeper, saved 6 of 9 shots and scored once.
Savannah Burr, Orting track and field: Burr, a senior, won the long jump and triple jump at the state meet, leading her girls team to the championship.
Class 2B
Grace Garguile, Crosspoint Academy track and field: Garguile, a junior, repeated as state champion in the 400 with a school-record 59.1. She also placed third in the 200.
No boys nominated.
Class 1B
Josh Straughan, Colton baseball: Straughan, a senior, threw a two-hitter, striking out 10, to lead his team to its first state championship in 32 years. He gave up one run and issued no walks in the 11-1 victory.
Kassie Guglielmino, Northport track and field: Guglielmino, a junior, won the 100 (12.66), 200 (26.04) and 400 (60.48), and took second in the long jump (15-10). By herself, she took Northport to fifth place in the team competition.
