State gymnastics championships at a glance

Where — Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.
Friday — Team and all-around championships: 4A at 6:20 p.m.; 3A/2A teams at 1:15 p.m. (individual qualifiers begin at 9 a.m.).
Saturday — Individual event championships, all classifications, 11 a.m.
Three to watch
Kristine Wong, Newport: Defending 4A all-around champion; won KingCo all-around title two weeks ago (37.325).
Cheyenne Gavino, Mount Rainier: Posted state's best all-around score last week during state-qualifying meets (37.725).
Madi Kellar, Jefferson: Talented senior (37.625 in last week's all-around) aims to conclude prep career with a flourish.
Story lines
Mount Rainier (177.3 last week) and Mead (173.825) of Spokane seek first state gymnastics titles in 4A meet. Newport (172.825) won its 11th state crown last year. Woodinville (171.9) won four straight 2006-10. Mead posted a 180 in late January. No school east of mountains has won a 4A title.
In 3A/2A, Enumclaw (173.75 last week) is team favorite in program's second year of existence. Other contenders: University (167.85) and defending champ Kamiakin (167.75). Also in the hunt: Bainbridge, Auburn Mountainview and Mount Si, all scoring 158-plus.
Possible breakthrough names: In 4A: Candace Ho, Newport; Raynie Hultgren, Bothell, Sam West, Beamer; Elizabeth Clemens, Emerald Ridge; Monica Church, Jefferson; Cadie Pratt, Mead. In 3A/2A: Olivia Bannerot, Enumclaw; Ellie Jajewski and Katie Rock, Holy Names; Michelle Fletcher, Kamiakin; Alana Norman, Shadle Park; Britni Atwell, Columbia River.
