WIAA/Seattle Times State Athletes of the Week
Athletes of the Week for Sept. 19-25, chosen from nominations by athletic directors.
Bishop Sankey, Gonzaga Prep football: Sankey, a senior, rushed 23 times for 316 yards and had touchdowns covering 83, 25, 10 and 10 yards in a 34-6 win over Lewis and Clark.
Jaclyn Softli, Eastlake soccer: Softli, a senior, had a hat trick in a 5-4 win over Ballard and two more goals in a 4-3 win against Redmond as the Wolves opened KingCo 4A play.
Zac Hill, North Central football: Hill, a senior, helped the Indians beat Shadle Park 42-18, completing 20 of 29 passes for 365 yards and five touchdowns (77, 60, 34, 12 and 6 yards).
Heather Johnson, Southridge soccer: Johnson, a junior, had six goals and two assists in two matches.
Thomas Rawls, Squalicum football: The Storm senior had seven catches for 233 yards and two TDs (70 and 55 yards) in a 49-41 win over Sedro-Woolley. He also averaged 42 yards on three punts (with no returns), made 12 tackles, broke up four passes and forced a fumble.
Catherine Miles, Anacortes soccer: Miles, a junior, combined for five goals and two assists in victories over Mount Baker and Ferndale.
Thomas Vincent, King's football: The Knights senior had 161 yards on 10-of-18 passing with two touchdowns and carried 10 times for 161 yards and three more scores in a 43-9 win over Cedarcrest. He also had six assisted tackles.
Emma Luhn, Toledo-Winlock soccer: Luhn, a senior, had a hat trick in a 6-2 win over King's Way Christian and an assist in a 3-0 win over Castle Rock.
Lars Blix, Wahkiakum football: The Mules sophomore completed 19 of 26 passes for 266 yards and three TDs in a 35-0 victory over Pe Ell.
McKenzy Powers, Ocosta soccer: Powers, a junior, made 39 saves as goalkeeper in games against Montesano and Napavine.
Sophie Kuehl, King's Way Christian volleyball: Kuehl, a sophomore, had three aces in nine serves, three kills in nine attacks, 26 digs, and was 18 of 19 in serve receptions against Lyle.
