Prep Notebook | Eisinger brothers to reunite at EWU

After a year apart, the Eisinger brothers will be playing basketball together again.

Former Jackson standout Drew and current Timberwolves senior Jamie Eisinger gave verbal commitments last weekend to play for Eastern Washington. They will receive full scholarships.

"We've been talking about wanting to play together," said Jamie.

"My brother's also my best friend. We have a special bond. We're not the magical package, but we're so thrilled. And we're happy that Eastern gave us the opportunity."

Jamie, a 5-foot-11 guard, averaged 21.1 points last season for the Timberwolves of Mill Creek, who finished 17-7.

Drew, a 6-4 guard who graduated from Jackson last year but is attending prep school in Ohio, will join his brother as a freshman in Cheney. They last played together during the 2005-2006 season, when the Timberwolves placed fifth at the state tournament.

They plan to sign letters of intent this week.

Metro tennis rivals draw a crowd

Don't think tennis is a spectator sport? The Metro League coed tennis dual meet Friday between Seattle Prep and Lakeside drew between 300 and 350 fans at Lower Woodland Park, said Seattle Prep coach Mark Frisby.

Unbeaten Prep claimed its eighth straight Metro title by winning, 7-4. The Panthers have won 15 of 17 Metro championships, beating Lakeside in the finale 13 times.

"Some people told me that they don't see those kinds of crowds for college matches," Frisby said Monday.

Note

• Meadowdale's Marelle Moehrle has signed a letter of intent to play women's basketball at Western Washington. The 5-9 senior guard averaged 17.4 points for the Mavericks of Lynnwood, who placed sixth at state.

Freelancer Zach Landres-Schnur and assistant sports editor Don Shelton contributed to this notebook.
