State Parks kicks off their yearlong centennial celebrations with First Day hikes around the state Tuesday. Events include a two-part hike at Saltwater State Park in Des Moines starting at 10 a.m. with an easy walk to learn about the park and its history, then a hike to the beach. Cama Beach State Park on Camano Island hosts an easy, mile-and-a-half hike for all ages and leashed dogs at 1:30 p.m., and Camano Island State Park has a moderate 2.5 mile hike at 1 p.m. For information on other events including at locations including Cedar Falls Trailhead in North Bend, Deception Pass State Park, Rockport State Park, Wallace Falls State Park and more, see www.parks.wa.gov/events/. Events are free, with Discover Pass required for parking.
