Don’t let this season of commitments and expectations wear you down. Focus. Breathe. Take stock.

Here are a few quick tips from Sarah Goble, a certified yoga instructor and manager at CorePower Yoga’s Ballard studio, which opened a few weeks ago.

Take awareness breaks. Stop whatever activity you are involved in and take three deep breaths. This will keep you grounded and calm.

Interlace fingers behind your back and squeeze your shoulder blades together. You can use a towel or strap between your hands if you need. When we get stressed we tend to slouch and lift our shoulders toward our ears, which can cause neck pain and headaches.

Set aside time to do something — a walk, yoga or whatever fulfills you. When you feel like your needs are met, it’s easier for you to be there for others.
