Gear up for the upcoming winter sports season at bargain prices at local events starting with the Ski Fever and Snowboard Show this weekend. Save as much as 70 percent on ski and snowboard gear from dozens of retailers and bargains at the Giant Ski Swap, check out the exhibits, Big Air Show, Rail Jam and Hot Skier Lounge and get two-for-one lift tickets. Admission is $12, $3 for ages 6-12, ages 5 and younger free, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday (1-10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday), Washington State Convention and Trade Center, Seattle (www.skifever.org).

Islander Middle School hosts a Ski and Snowboard Sale and Swap Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m., with half-price sale from 3 to 4 p.m., 8225 S.E. 72nd St., Mercer Island.
