The Seattle Beer Run is not some college kid's mission. It's a way to tour part of Seattle in a jog and then celebrate the journey with a beer.

Each Saturday afternoon, Seattle City Running Tours hosts a five-mile run that starts at the Fremont Brewing Company, stops at a number of sites, and winds up back at the brewery for a beer or other beverage.

Rita Manley, owner-operator of City Running Tours Seattle, began the franchise (the tours operate in other major cities) after searching for safe places to run, and Seattle landmarks to experience.

The tour leaves the brewery, at 3409 Woodland Park Ave. N., at 3 p.m. Participants trot at a 10- or 11-minute-per-mile pace. It costs $30. Sign up online by 3 p.m. on the Friday before the tour.
